Former governorship aspirant in Benue State and APC chieftain, Engr. Ada Chenge, has voiced support for the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, stating that Idoma women stand strongly behind him.
Chenge urged Akume to disregard the recent call for his sack by individuals claiming to be Idoma elders.
The Idoma people of Benue State recently expressed concerns over alleged sidelining in political appointments at the federal and state levels under President Bola Tinubu and Governor Hyacinth Alia. A coalition of Idoma professionals led by Hon. Inalegwu Adaje emphasized that the ministerial nomination seemed to violate constitutional provisions.
The coalition leader called on President Bola Tinubu to dismiss SGF George Akume, attributing the alleged sidelining to his actions.
However, on Thursday, during a visit of Benue South leaders to Akume at his Abuja residence, Engr. Ada Chenge, speaking on behalf of Idoma women, reaffirmed their support for Akume. Chenge urged the SGF to disregard detractors attempting to create division between the Idoma people and the federal government.
She said, “Let it be known that the women of Idoma have spoken, and we lend our unwavering support to George Akume, who has always championed our cause.
“On behalf of the resilient and determined women of Idoma, we stand resolutely with George Akume, knowing that together, we can overcome any challenges that come our way.
“To SGF George Akume, we say: Do not be swayed by detractors. The women of Idoma stand by you, undeterred, as you continue to lead with integrity and dedication.”
