An unidentified man had a close brush with a lynching attempt in Nasarawa State’s Mararaba community after his SUV was set ablaze amid accusations of stealing a male private part in the Sharp Corner area.
According to an eyewitness , the victim of the alleged genital theft sensed something amiss and raised an alarm after the incident. This prompted passersby to apprehend the man, pelt him with stones, and set his vehicle on fire.
The eyewitness stated, “The man had just taken another man’s private part and attempted to flee into his car before being captured. I’m uncertain of his fate, as I left the scene when they set his vehicle on fire.”
In a related incident in the Masaka community, approximately six individuals were reportedly victims of genital theft. Eyewitnesses noted that this time, women were also implicated in the alleged acts of stealing men’s private parts, raising concerns about the escalating situation.
“In our area, six people lost their genitals. This situation is escalating. What’s even more surprising is that women are involved in these acts. What is going on?” they questioned.
Another witness revealed that these incidents appeared to be on the rise because the culprits were allegedly paid a significant sum, N6 million, for one genital by the ritualists who hired them.
“One woman confessed when caught that if she had succeeded, she would have been paid six million naira for obtaining one man’s genital,” the eyewitness disclosed.
The Nasarawa state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Ramhan Nansel, confirmed the incident in Mararaba and stated that the police had intervened in the situation. Nansel reported that the two individuals arrested had been taken to the hospital for a medical examination and had received a clean bill of health.
The PPRO added that no lives were lost due to the timely response of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) in handling the mob attack.
