Mohammed Aminu, the police officer who was subjected to an assault by Afrobeat musician Seun Kuti, has been promoted in recognition of his remarkable professionalism during the incident.

The assault took place in May and went viral on social media, drawing widespread attention to the matter.

Despite the provocative attack by Kuti, Officer Mohammed Aminu maintained his composure and refrained from any retaliatory action. His restraint and commitment to upholding his duty as a police officer earned him praise and admiration from the public and authorities alike.

The Police Service Commission (PSC) announced the promotion in a statement issued on Thursday. Officer Aminu was promoted to the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) in recognition of his dedication to the service and his ability to handle a challenging situation with professionalism.

The PSC further disclosed other promotions made during its ongoing 21st plenary meeting, including the appointment of two Deputy Inspectors General (DIG) and the promotion of the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Muyiwa Adejobi, to the next rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP).

The commission confirmed the appointments of 9,016 unconfirmed Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASP) and approved the promotion of 14,052 inspectors to Assistant Superintendents of Police (unconfirmed).

Inspector Habila Bulus was recognized and promoted to ASP II for displaying gallantry and exceptional commitment to duty.
