Mohbad’s body may be exhumed for autopsy – Police

The spokesman of the Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, has stated that the body of the deceased musician, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba also known as Mohbad is open for exhumation for an autopsy.

Hundeyin made these remarks on Thursday night during an Instagram live discussion with media personality Ifedayo Olarinde, popularly known as Daddy Freeze, addressing inquiries regarding the controversy surrounding Mohbad’s demise.

The Nigerian Police Force’s (NPF) spokesperson, Muyiwa Adejobi, also confirmed in a statement on Thursday that a thorough investigation would be conducted to determine the cause of Mohbad’s death.

“The Force PRO issued a statement this evening (Thursday) saying that investigation will commence and that’s what we’re going to do,” Hundeyin said.

“If need be, the body will be exhumed. It’s not too late. The body can be exhumed and autopsy can be performed.

“The statement also states that people should bring whatever information they have to the commissioner of police in Lagos State.

“That’s because we don’t want to do hierarchy anymore. Take it to Force CID, bring it to Lagos Command. It doesn’t matter. We’re going to harmonise it within ourselves and ensure that justice is done.”

The police are urging family members or close associates of the late Afrobeats musician with pertinent information to approach the Lagos State Commissioner of Police to aid in the investigation.

They have further appealed to the public to avoid making statements or engaging in actions that could jeopardize the ongoing investigation, emphasizing the importance of trust and support from the community.

Controversy surrounds Mohbad’s death, with social media users pointing fingers at his former record label, Marlian Records, and its owner, Naira Marley, as well as Sam Larry. This escalated after revelations on X exposed that Mohbad had reported assaults and threats on his life by the Sam Larry group to the police in a letter dated June 27, 2023.
