Amidst public outcry and grief over the death of singer Mohbad, the Nigeria Police have advised Nigerians to refrain from ranting on Twitter and instead report any evidence they may have related to the incident to their local police station, IDOMA VOICE reports.
The response came in the form of a tweet from DSP Bright Edafe, the Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for Delta State, who was reacting to a tweet by rapper Young Skales.
Skales had expressed frustration over the perceived absence of effective policing in Nigeria, stating, “Police no Dey this country?”
In response, Edafe urged Nigerians to understand that Twitter is not a police station and encouraged individuals with any evidence related to Mohbad’s death to report it at their nearest police station. He also extended his condolences, saying, “May his soul rest in peace, Amen.”
However, Skales responded with frustration, criticizing the authorities for their perceived inaction in addressing issues of crime and security in the country.
He expressed sadness over the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s death and lamented the lack of support for artists in the industry.
He wrote, “My friend will you shuttup…stupid criminals
“They basically made life miserable for that kid … I’m awake and sad again … evidence full everywhere !! My heart is broken
No friends for this industry … if not for my stubborn head and God ehn … pray for your artiste friends
