Mohbad’s friend, Primeboy threatens to sue late singer’s mother for defamation

Ibrahim Owodunni, popularly known as Primeboy and a childhood friend of the late singer Mohbad, has threatened to sue Mohbad’s mother, Abosede Adeyemo-Aloba, for defamation.

In a statement signed by his lawyer, Akinpelu Ogunbona, Primeboy addressed accusations made by Mohbad’s mother during an interview, where she claimed he had a conflict with her son before his death.

“In the interview, you claimed that our client often fought with the late Mohbad and frequently complained about being neglected by him after he gained fame,” the statement reads. “You also suggested that our client was advised to flee after Mohbad’s death to avoid being suspected of involvement.”

The statement further accused Mohbad’s mother of deliberately trying to harm Primeboy’s reputation, which has affected his standing as an emerging artist. “Your allegations have severely damaged the affection and support our client receives from his fans and well-wishers worldwide,” it added.

Primeboy, in the letter shared on Instagram, gave Mohbad’s mother a seven-day ultimatum to retract her statements. He also warned that legal action would follow if she failed to comply.

Mohbad passed away under unclear circumstances on September 12, 2023, and was buried the following day. His body was exhumed on September 21 for an autopsy by the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH).
