Omowunmi, the widow of the late Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has expressed distress over persistent threats directed at her and Liam, her child with the late singer.
She urged the musician’s father, Joseph Aloba, to obtain a court order for a Deoxyribonucleic Acid Identification (DNA) test for her son Liam.
Recall that Aloba had called on the Nigeria Police to summon Omowunmi to shed light on the death of his son and also demanded a paternity test for his grandson.
However, in a series of Instagram posts, Mohbad’s widow revealed that she has been facing similar challenges to what Mohbad faced before his demise.
“Nigerians, Liam and I are at your mercy! Will you allow what happened to Ilerioluwa to happen to us? We face threats daily. Our freedom has been taken away! Nigerians, please help us,” she wrote.
She found it inconceivable that Liam’s grandfather, who encouraged them to have a child, is now insisting on a DNA test.
“I never intended to have a baby at that time, but Baba told Mohbad and me that the Holy Spirit instructed him to have a grandson who would buy the coffin that would bury him.
“I discovered I was pregnant on August 5 of the same year, and my father-in-law was overjoyed by the news of my pregnancy. Why is he tarnishing the legacy his son left behind?” she questioned.
She also stated her readiness for the DNA test once her father-in-law provides a court order for it.
“Go and get a court order because it’s time I exposed my enemies,” Omowunmi wrote.
Earlier, during an Instagram Live session, Omowunmi alleged that her son was not experiencing the freedom enjoyed by other children, claiming that some individuals were threatening her life.
“As you all know, I have never done this before, but my husband, Ilerioluwa, never wanted this. I am not afraid to die! Enough is enough! Nigerians, please come to my aid! They have cursed my son several times, and today, it has begun again. They have said my son will not live to be one year old, the same fate as Mohbad, whose father could not come out on social media to seek public assistance.
“Nigerians, please help me! I am speaking out now because Ilerioluwa would never forgive me if I don’t fight for Liam. He thought silence was the solution until he died. He had no chance to fight, but I, Wunmi, will fight with every drop of my blood if anyone threatens my son.
“You are threatening to kill me at the inquest, threatening to abduct me and my son, yet I have remained silent. I cannot even go out in public for fear of my life. My son cannot enjoy the things other children enjoy because of you! Why? You are depriving my son of his freedom, but today I am calling on Nigerians to come to my aid. Even if they eventually kill me, please let Liam live, I beg you! You are taking my son’s rights away from him! I am calling on Nigerians to please come to my aid. I am too young for the things they are subjecting me to. Nigerians, is it until I die?
“This is what Mohbad went through, but nobody helped. Please, Nigerians, help me. When my husband came out, he was not a drug dealer. Now they are using DNA to silence me. Mohbad was never a drug dealer or user, which affected his self-esteem and made him afraid to show his vulnerability. I will not be ashamed. Abuse me all you want, just like you abused Mohbad, but I will never stay silent for Liam. Do not come for Liam because I will fight for him with all my might. I will protect him because he is all I have and I am the only parent he has. Mohbad is not here to fight for him anymore.
“Please tell Baba to obtain a court order for a DNA test to be conducted. He is not getting the court order because he is happy that my son is being attacked daily. This is my son whom I carried for ten months. All mothers, please come to my aid. Everyone is telling me to stay silent, but I cannot do that anymore. Even if they kill me, let Liam live, please. He is the only person Ilerioluwa left behind. Baba is not getting the court order because he is pleased that Liam is being attacked. Liam is seen as a competitor, and he views him as a threat. He is happy to use his son’s death to make money online,” she added.
