New Zealander-Nigerian mixed martial artist Israel Adesanya has stirred controversy with his recent comments, alleging that a significant number of women in Lagos are “runs girls,” a colloquial term for call girls.
In a video message shared on his X (formerly Twitter) handle on Monday, the former UFC welterweight champion criticized Lagos women for flaunting their lifestyles, which he claimed are financed through prostitution.
“Lagos women love showing off. Most of you are runs girls, kobo kobo, ashewo,” Adesanya remarked, blending English with Yoruba in his statement.
He urged the women to be more approachable and less boastful, adding, “You keep posing and showing off. Nonsense. Just be nice, be friendly, say hi.”
