Veteran Nollywood actor, John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu, has asked the public for prayers and assistance as he grapples with an undisclosed illness in a Lagos hospital.
In a heartfelt video shared on his verified Instagram page, the comic actor revealed the severity of his condition, expressing fear that his legs might require amputation.
“For so many weeks, I’ve been down. All I’m hoping for is your prayers and assistance. As I speak to you, I’m still lying in the hospital,” Mr Ibu shared, highlighting the dire situation.
The medical team attending to him suggested the possibility of amputation if their current approach doesn’t yield positive results. This prospect has left the actor deeply concerned about his future and mobility.
Mr Ibu, in a plea to his fans and fellow Nigerians, requested prayers and divine intervention to avert the potential amputation and to aid his recovery. He emphasized his desire to retain his legs and overcome this challenging phase in his life.
Furthermore, Okafor’s wife and daughter joined him in the video, elaborating on the ordeal he has faced over the past two weeks. They disclosed that he has been receiving treatment at a reputable private hospital in Lagos but has not shown significant improvement, necessitating urgent action.
The family is struggling with the financial burden of medical bills, prompting them to seek public assistance. They highlighted the need for contributions to facilitate his treatment, suggesting the possibility of seeking medical care abroad for the revered actor.
In this difficult time, Mr Ibu’s family calls upon the goodwill and support of individuals to help secure the best possible medical care and give the beloved actor a chance to recover and continue his inspiring journey.
