John Ikechukwu Okafor, famously known as Mr Ibu, was a Nigerian actor, producer, writer, and comedian. Born on October 17, 1961, in Enugu State, Mr Ibu, at 62 years old, is a stalwart of Nigerian comedy.
After completing his secondary education, Mr Ibu was admitted to the College of Education, Yola. Unfortunately, financial constraints led to his dropout. Undeterred, he later pursued a degree at the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT) in Enugu.
John Okafor entered the Nigerian movie industry in 1998, facing initial challenges securing major roles. However, his breakthrough came in 2004 with the blockbuster comic movie “Mr. Ibu.” Portraying a troublesome father to Osita Iheme’s mischievous son, the film became a nationwide sensation.
“Mr. Ibu” catapulted John Okafor to stardom, earning him the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Comic Actor in Nigeria in 2005. His comedic genius and hilarious performances made him a household name across the country.
