Prominent Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, has expressed optimism that Muslims will eventually rise to the highest political office in the United States the White House.

Gumi made the remark following the historic victory of Uganda-born politician, Mamdani, who recently became the first Muslim elected as Mayor of New York City.

In a post shared on his Facebook page on Wednesday, Gumi wrote:

“Mamdani has made it! ICU in Washington should be ready for heart attacks! Muslims will make it to WH.”

According to DAILY POST, Mamdani, a 34-year-old state assemblyman from Queens and a self-proclaimed democratic socialist, pulled off a stunning upset in the New York City Democratic mayoral primary, defeating former Governor Andrew Cuomo in what observers described as a politically charged contest.

The victory, which many analysts dubbed a political earthquake, has redrawn the city’s political landscape and energized progressives nationwide.

Former U.S. President Donald Trump closely followed the race, labeling Mamdani a “100% Communist Lunatic” and “My little communist” comments Mamdani has firmly dismissed.

In the days leading up to the election, Trump publicly endorsed Cuomo and even hinted at cutting federal funds to New York City should Mamdani win.
