Patrick Atayi, the father of Margaret Oyibo Atayi, a young Benue lady who was found dead in Abuja, has said his daughter did not commit suicide due to a failed marriage.
According to the man, the family is still unsure about the circumstances surrounding her death.
“All I know is that the family is bereaved, and we cannot make a definitive statement until an investigation is conducted to reveal what happened,” he told IDOMA TV.
“Margaret was 27 years old and left behind two children. The family is still trying to figure out what happened, and it remains a mystery to us. We have read various narratives in the media, but I didn’t address any press. What they are putting out there is imaginative journalism.”
When asked if Margaret committed suicide or was murdered, Atayi replied, “At present, one cannot make a categorical statement on what happened until an investigation is concluded. A murder case cannot be ruled out. Once the relevant authorities investigate and present their report to the family, we can make a definitive statement on what happened. For now, we are not ruling out any possibility; it could be murder or suicide.”
