1. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has debunked the report that its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar has withdrawn the petition filed against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Election Tribunal.
2. President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, on Thursday, dampened the hope of advocates of a government of national unity, favouring competence over such a political arrangement. He stated that his aim was higher than a government of national unity and would rather seek a government of national competence in selecting his cabinet members and not choosing appointees based on religion.
3. An order to restrict the movement of vehicles on Saturday has been given by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Usman Alkali Baba. IDOMA VOICE gathered that the police boss in a statement on Thursday signed by the force’s spokesperson Muyiwa Adejobi said the restriction was because of the governorship and house of assembly elections to be held on Saturday.
4. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) yesterday denied awarding a contract for the printing of sensitive election materials to the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Adamawa State, Senator Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed. The commission was dismissing reports that it awarded the contract to a company belonging to the gubernatorial hopeful.
5. National Vice Chairman, Northwest, of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) Salihu Mohammad Lukman said the lawsuit filed against him by the party’s National Secretary Senator Iyiola Omisore was a distraction. Senator Iyiola Omisore’s lawsuit against Lukman was in agitation against Lukman’s claims that the APC National Secretary didn’t account for the funds deployed for the last governorship election in Osun State.
6. Presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP), Mr. Peter Obi, has dismissed the February 25 poll as the worst since the country’s independence in 1960 and a setback in the democratic process. He stated this when he featured on a national television programme, yesterday, saying he was adamant in challenging the process of the election and the declaration of Bola Tinubu of the APC as winner.
7. The Lagos State Police Command has arraigned a fraud syndicate comprising eight men before the Federal High Court in Lagos for allegedly hacking into the server of an electronic platform, ITEX Integrated Services Limited, and stealing N435.3m.
8. The National Industrial Court in Abuja has threatened to imprison the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Alkali Baba Usman over his persistent disobedience to orders of the court. The court on Thursday stated that the action of the IGP is unacceptable considering that he is a top-ranking federal official.
9. Presidential Spokesperson, Garba Shehu has said the claim that Nigerian governors are gods has been demystified in the just-concluded presidential election. Speaking on Arise News’ Morning Show on Thursday, Shehu said some of the governors lost their senatorial bids because the will of the people prevailed and the election could not be rigged.
10. The New Nigeria Peoples Party in Kano State has accused the Department of State Services of working in collaboration with Governor Abdullahi Ganduje to undermine the forthcoming governorship election in the state. A chieftain of the party and senatorial candidate, Dr Bappa Bichi, made the allegation while addressing a news conference on Wednesday night.
