1.Buhari sacks NDDC Boss, Effiong Akwa

The President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari has sacked the Sole Administrator of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Effiong Akwa.

IDOMA VOICE understands Akwa was appointed as the NDDC boss in 2020.

His sack was confirmed in a statement dated 20th October 2022, and signed by the Director of Press, Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, Patricia Deworitshe, which also has it that President Buhari approved the constitution of a new management team and Governing Board of the NDDC.

2.CBN, AMCON announce sale of Polaris Bank

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the Asset Management Company of Nigeria (AMCON) have announced the completion of a Share Purchase Agreement (SPA) for the acquisition of 100 percent of the equity in Polaris Bank by Strategic Capital Investment Limited (‘SCIL’).

The House of Representatives on Wednesday okayed the sale of Polaris Bank, noting that the acquisition followed the laid down procedure and the relevant presidential approval.

3. Naira crashes, hits N751 per dollar at parallel market

IDOMA VOICE reports that the Nigerian naira, on Thursday, crashed to N751 per dollar at the parallel section of the foreign exchange (FX) market amid increased demand.

This newspaper understands that the figure represents N9 or 1.2 percent depreciation compared to the N742 it traded a week ago.

Bureaux De Change (BDC) operators, popularly known as ‘abokis’, who spoke to TheCable in Lagos, quoted the buying rate of the greenback at N745 and the selling price at N751 per dollar.

4. Adoka-born Ochebi Obe promoted to rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police

Idoma-born Ochebi Obe has been promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police.

AIG Obe was among cops recently promoted by the police service commission.

The senior police officer hailed from Adoka, in Otukpa LGA of Benue State.

5. 2023: Why Nnamdi Kanu will not work for Peter Obi – Adeyanju

There are indications that the release of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, may affect the conduct of the 2023 general elections in the Southeast.

Deji Adeyanju, an Abuja-based rights activist, said Kanu’s release may affect the momentum of the 2023 elections in the Southeast.

Recall that an Appeal Court in Abuja had ordered Kanu’s release after discharging and acquitting him of all terrorism charges.

6.The presidential candidate of Labour Party, LP, Peter Obi, has revealed why he visited Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State on Wednesday.

Obi, while responding to questions from journalists said he “met with Governor Samuel Ortom to commiserate with him on the ravages of the floods in Benue state resulting in huge losses of lives, property and farmlands and massive displacement.”

He went on: “I came to inform the Governor of my intent to visit some of the affected areas and discussed how we, as presidential candidates, can assist affected states.”

7. Rico Swavey buried amid tears in Lagos (PHOTOS)

Ex-Big Brother Naija star Patrick Adebowale Fakoya, popularly known as Rico Swavey, has been buried in Lagos.

Rico Swavey died on 13th October after a ghastly motor accident in Lagos, leaving him in a coma for two days.

His burial rites began with a church service on Thursday morning at The Methodist Church of Trinity (Tinubu Square) in Lagos Island before his family accompanied his body to a funeral home.

8. Manchester United drop Ronaldo for Chelsea clash, give reason

Manchester United have confirmed that Cristiano Ronaldo will not be part of their squad for the trip to Chelsea this Sunday.

This was confirmed in a statement released by the club on Thursday.

“Cristiano Ronaldo will not be part of the Manchester United squad for this Saturday’s Premier League game against Chelsea.

9. Ortom tasks JEDCO on effective power supply in Benue

Governor Samuel Ortom has charged the management of Jos Electricity Distribution Company, JEDCO, to upgrade the level of power supply in Benue State.

The Governor gave the charge, Thursday, October 20th, 2022 when the new Managing Director of JEDCO, Engr Abdu Bello Mohammed led some management staff of the company to pay him a courtesy visit at Benue State Governor’s Lodge, Asokoro, Abuja.

10. Wizkid welcomes second child with Jada Pollock

Nigerian superstart, Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, known as Wizkid and baby mama, manager, Jada Pollock, have welcomed their second child.

The enterpreneur made this known on her Instagram handle where she showed a picture of her cradling her first son and new baby, while she captioned it saying, “Beyond a blessing. Thank God for another year.”

Jada Pollock, is well-known in the industry for her entrepreneurial skills. Under her management, Wizkid has established relationships with many prominent international acts, including Drake.
