1. Obasanjo endorses Peter Obi for 2023 presidency

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has officially endorsed the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, as his candidate for the 2023 election. Obasanjo said this in his New Year message made available to newsmen on Sunday.

2. Obi not wish of most Nigerians – Atiku replies Obasanjo

The campaign organization of the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has described former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s endorsement of the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi as his wish. Obasanjo in a letter on Sunday morning endorsed Obi for the February 2023 presidential election.

3. Assassins set CBN staff, wife ablaze in Ogun, kidnap son, maid

Assassins on Sunday murdered Kehinde Fatinoye, a staff of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN. Fatinoye was killed alongside his wife, who was until the incident a Principal Confidential Secretary at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, FUNAAB.

4. Peter Obi visits IDP camp in Abuja on New Year’s Day

The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi visited the camp for Internally Displaced Persons, IDP, in Wassa, Abuja. Obi made the disclosure in a tweet on his official Twitter handle while sharing photos from the visit.

5. Your lives, properties safe in 2023 – NSCDC boss to Nigerian

The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi has tasked officers of the corps to remain committed just as he assured Nigerians of the security of lives and properties before, during, and after the 2023 general elections. This was contained in a statement by DCC Olusola Odumusu, Director, Public Relations, as part of his new year message.

6. Buhari has dragged Nigeria below its 1999 status – Obasanjo

Former President Obasanjo has said that the current government of President Muhammadu Buhari has dragged Nigeria down below the status it was in 1999 when he took over. Obasanjo said this in a letter, where he briefed the youths about his interactions with the 2023 presidential candidates.

7. Southern Kaduna: Residents narrate ordeals during attacks

Victims of the 18 December 2022 attack in Malagum 1 and Sokong communities on Saturday in the Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State have given horrific details of how terrorists murdered 40 villagers in the communities. Sources who spoke with DAILY POST explained that despite the attacks, the communities were still being threatened with calls from the gunmen that they would strike again.

8. Fulfill 2015 promise, rescue remaining Chibok girls – Parents write Buhari

Parents of the abducted Chibok girls and other members of the Chibok community have urged President Muhammadu Buhari to rescue the remaining girls in captivity. This was contained in a New Year open letter to the President signed by Yana Galang and Zanna Lawan.

9. EPL: Graham Potter reveals why Chelsea drew 1-1 with Forest

Chelsea boss Graham Potter has explained why his side were unable to beat Nottingham Forest in the Premier League on New Year’s Day. He went on to say that Chelsea ‘did not deserve’ to win the game and slightly blamed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for failing to take the only chance the Blues had in the second half.

Nigerian artiste Teniola Apata has explained the reason behind her dramatic weight loss. The plus-size singer revealed that she lost 75 pounds without surgery.
