He encouraged opposition parties to accept the verdict and channel their resources towards more constructive endeavors.
Following the All Progressives Congress (APC) victory at the tribunal, Governor Bello shared his thoughts with reporters and urged those dissatisfied with the ruling to forgo further appeals to higher courts.
The Lamidi Apapa faction of the Labor Party (LP) has made serious allegations against the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi. The faction has accused Obi of diverting a staggering $15 million and N12 billion, which were earmarked for his presidential campaign.
According to the faction, these substantial funds were allegedly misappropriated by Obi for purposes unrelated to the campaign. Specifically, they claim that Obi used these funds to support the embattled Chairman of the party, Julius Abure, as well as the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
Former Presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, representing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has vehemently opposed the verdict delivered by the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT). The tribunal’s ruling, which took place on Wednesday, dismissed the petition brought forth by Atiku and his Labour Party (LP) ally, Peter Obi, challenging the election victory of President Bola Tinubu from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the February 25th election.
The tribunal, chaired by Justice Haruna Tsammani and comprised of other esteemed members, including justices Monsurat Bolaji-Yusuf, Stephen Adah, Moses Ugo, and Abba Mohammed, declared that the petitions filed by the candidates and their respective parties lacked merit. Consequently, they upheld President Tinubu’s election victory.
Vice-President Kashim Shettima has vowed that he will retire Atiku Abubakar, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to Kombina so that he can spend his remaining days rearing goats and broilers.
Shettima made the remarks during a chat with journalists outside the court of appeal in Abuja, moments after the presidential election tribunal affirmed the victory of President Bola Tinubu.
Dele Momodu, a former presidential candidate and prominent figure in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has strongly criticized the judges of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT). Momodu, who had actively supported the PDP’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, during the 2023 presidential election, accused the judges of distorting the nation’s Constitution.
The PEPT ruling, issued on Wednesday, affirmed that President Bola Tinubu had convincingly won the 2023 polls. In response, Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) and Atiku Abubakar of the PDP, both of whom had contested the election, approached the Tribunal to challenge the declaration of Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, as the winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Former President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed his contentment with the ruling of the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal (PEPT), which upheld the victory of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, in the February 25 election.
In a statement released on Wednesday and signed by his spokesperson, Garba Shehu, Buhari commended the Tribunal’s decision, stating that it marked a historic moment. The five-member panel had dismissed the petitions of the presidential candidates of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Abubakar Atiku, and the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi.
The aggrieved presidential candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Abubakar Atiku, and the Labour Party’s Peter Obi have declared their intent to challenge the judgments of the Presidential Election Tribunal at the Supreme Court. This announcement was made shortly after the Tribunal pronounced their respective petitions as dismissed.
On Wednesday, both Atiku and Obi publicly disclosed their decisions to pursue their legal challenges at the highest court in the land, signaling their determination to exhaust all available legal avenues.
