  1. Charles Uwagbale, a 48-year-old drug kingpin notorious for sponsoring young Nigerians to traffic cocaine to Europe, was apprehended by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) during a late-night raid on Friday, July 21, in a hotel room in the Okota area of Lagos State. The arrest took place as Uwagbale was preparing one of his recruited couriers, Uju Dominic, 35, to swallow 93 pellets of cocaine meant for distribution in Italy.

    Uju Dominic had been enlisted by Uwagbale from his base in Italy, agreeing to come to Nigeria, ingest 100 pellets of cocaine, and return to Italy on Saturday, July 22. The mule was accommodated in the Golden Heaven Hotel, located at Enoma Street, off Ago-Palace Way, Okota, Isolo, Lagos.

    The list was released on the official website of the agency on Sunday. It was gathered that the successful candidates are expected to report at academy in Jos, Plateau State on or July 31.

  6. Tragedy struck in the Kankia Local Government Area of Katsina State as gunmen attacked a Low-Cost residential estate near the Kankia General Hospital, resulting in the death of a man on Saturday night.

    According to Channels Television, the victim, identified as Alhaji Ibrahim Baraya Solo, was shot and killed when he attempted to confront the gunmen, who arrived at the scene on motorcycles.

  7. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Benue state has raised concerns over Governor Hyacinth Alia’s presence at a one-year remembrance Mass in honor of late Prince Paeke Shepnaan, the son of the President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Bolna’an Dongban-Mensem, in Plateau State.

  9. The Benue State Government has vowed to take action against senior civil servants implicated in double dipping and receiving multiple salaries.
