  1. The Federal High Court in Lagos has issued a final order for the forfeiture of properties worth ₦11.14 billion and an additional ₦1.04 billion linked to the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele.

    It was gathered that Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke issued the order after considering an application presented by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), represented by its counsel, Chineye Okezie.

  2. The Loveworld Convocation Arena of the Loveworld Nation aka Christ Embassy located in the Oregun area of Ikeja, Lagos State, reportedly caught fire on Sunday morning.
    President and founder of LoveWorld Incorporated better known as Christ Embassy, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome in response has said that the fire incident at the church’s headquarters was not an accident but an avenue for bigger and better things.
  3. The Executive Governor of Benue state, His Excellency, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormen Alia Ph.D has promised to construct the road linking Otukpo to Agila in Ado local government area, as well as the construction of an accessible road that would link the three Local Government Areas of the Enone Federal Constituency.

    Gov Alia made this pronouncement at the “Thank You Tour” to Enone ( Ado/Okpokwu/Ogbadibo) federal constituency .

  4. A federal High Court sitting in Lagos has granted Union Bank interim injunction restraining Swift Networks Limited and its agents from accessing funds and assets in banks pending determination of a Motion on Notice in an alleged debt recovery suit.

    Justice Yelim Bogoro issued the order on June 19, following a June 11, ex-parte application filed and argued by Gbenga Akinde, counsel for the plaintiff/applicant, Union Bank.

  5. Abia North Senator, Orji Uzor Kalu, has advocated that the federal government should pay more than ₦62,000 as the new minimum wage for Nigerian workers.

    The former Governor advocated that President Bola Tinubu should make the minimum wage ₦90,000 because civil servants need good treatment and the minimum wage has not been increased in the last five years despite the inflation in the country.

  6. The vice-president of oil and gas at Dangote Industries Limited (DIL), Devakumar Edwin, on Sunday, accused international oil companies (IOCs) in Nigeria of doing everything to frustrate the survival of Dangote Oil Refinery and Petrochemicals.

    Edwin said the IOCs are deliberately and wilfully frustrating the refinery’s efforts to buy local crude by jerking up the high premium prices above the market price, thereby forcing it to import crude from countries as far as the United States, with its attendant high costs.

  7. The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), has rejected the idea of a decentralized minimum wage negotiation which would allow state governors to negotiate differently from the federal government.

    In rejecting the idea, the secretary of the NLC in Oyo State, Adebayo Aribatise, expressed concerns, noting that some state governors would bastardize the opportunity and it may also cause a disadvantage for workers.

  8. A group of about 50 members of the House of Representatives, representing various regions and political parties, have come together under the banner of Concerned Federal Lawmakers for Peace and Security in the South-East.

    They have petitioned President Bola Tinubu to use Section 174 of the 1999 Constitution of Nigeria (as amended) and Section 107(1) of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015, to secure the release of the detained leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.

  9. The Labour Party (LP) Presidential Candidate in the 2023 general elections, Peter Obi, has dissociated himself from a trending report online, alleging that he was among “detractors” criticizing the Federal Government’s alleged spending on the national anthem.

    Obi distanced himself from this claim in a statement released by his Media Office, in Abuja yesterday.

  10. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has announced the arrest of two former Union Bank employees in Makurdi, Benue State, accused of stealing N4,199,500 from a deceased customer’s account.

    Dele Oyewale, the spokesperson for the EFCC, disclosed this in a statement released yesterday in Abuja.
