1. Governor Samuel Ortom has commissioned the headquarters of the Benue State Community Volunteer Guards, Benue Television and the remodelled Governor’s office. The Governor performed the ceremonies separately on Friday, May 26th, 2023 at the Benue Peoples, Makurdi. The Governor in his remarks while commissioning the office complex of the State Community Volunteer Guards commended the state security outfit for working in line with rules of engagement in collaboration with conventional security agencies to secure the state.
2. A federal high court in Abuja has ruled in favor of Bola Tinubu, the candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), dismissing a suit that sought to halt his swearing-in as Nigeria’s president. The court’s decision comes after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Tinubu the winner of the presidential poll held on February 25, with a total of 8,794,726 votes. The suit, identified as FHC/ABJ/CS/657/2023, was filed by three plaintiffs: Praise Isaiah, Paul Audu, and Anongu Moses. They alleged that Tinubu provided false information on his form EC9 by falsely declaring that he was not a citizen of another country. Additionally, they accused the president-elect of perjury by misrepresenting his age in the sworn declaration.
3. The Federal Government has announced that Monday, May 29, 2023, will be a non-working day across the country.
