  1. President Bola Tinubu has expressed the Federal Government’s commitment to supporting global tech giant Google Incorporated in its endeavor to create one million digital jobs in the country.

    The assurance was given during a courtesy visit to the President by Google Global Vice President, Mr. Richard Gingras, as disclosed by Dele Alake, the Special Adviser to the President on Special Duties, Communications, and Strategy.

  2. The Kaduna State Election Petition Tribunal has sacked Hon. Donatus Mathew from his position as a member of the House of Representatives under the Labour Party (LP) for Kaura Constituency in Kaduna State. The tribunal declared Hon. Gideon Lucas Gwani from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) as the rightful winner of the election.

    Hon. Donatus Mathew, who gained popularity as an Okada rider, had initially won the election into the House of Representatives, but the tribunal’s ruling has now overturned that result in favor of Hon. Gideon Lucas Gwani. The tribunal’s decision has reshaped the representation for Kaura Constituency in Kaduna State.

  3. A man has reportedly divorced his 14-year-old wife for receiving medical assistance from a male practitioner during childbirth in Katsina State. The teenage mother experienced a complicated childbirth, prompting her family to rush her to the hospital.

    Unfortunately, there was no female medical practitioner available at the time, and a male medical professional attended to her during labor, leading to the unexpected crash of her marriage.

  4. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has given his nod to the appointment of Deputy Comptroller Generals (DCGs) and Assistant Comptroller Generals (ACGs) in the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS). The announcement was made by Abdullahi Maiwada, the spokesperson of NCS, on Friday morning.

    The new appointments include three DCGs: FO Okun, MBA Musa, and A Hamisu, as well as three ACGs: K Olumoh, AB Mohammed, and A Alajogun.

  5. The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has announced its plan to remove 100,000 registered companies from its database due to their failure to file annual returns. The Registrar-General and Chief Executive Officer, Alhaji Garba Abubakar, revealed this during a training on ‘Use of the beneficial ownership register’ in Lagos.

    Abubakar stated that the commission would enforce the removal of these companies as part of its efforts to ensure compliance with regulations. The affected companies have not filed their annual returns for the past 10 years, and the commission will send them notices of striking off before taking action, in accordance with section 692 of the CAMA, 2020.

  6. The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has given a directive to Finland-based Biafra agitator, Simon Ekpa, to put an end to all sit-at-home protests in the Southeast region.

    Kanu also urged Ekpa to refrain from antagonizing governors or politicians from the region. He emphasized that anyone enforcing sit-at-home orders in the southeast is not his disciple and should face legal consequences.

  7. On Friday, Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State announced the appointment of 15 commissioner nominees, featuring prominent personalities such as Chief Ike Ekweremadu’s son, Lloyd, and ex-Governor Sullivan’s daughter, Ada Chukwu.

  8. Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Submits Proposed Cabinet List for Ratification Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has taken a significant step towards forming his new cabinet by sending a list of proposed cabinet members to the Lagos State House of Assembly for ratification.

    While the Clerk of the Lagos State House of Assembly has not officially confirmed the submission, sources reveal that the list consists of a mix of both familiar faces from the previous administration and new appointees.

  9. Between January 2022 and June 2023, a tragic toll of 473 lives was lost in road traffic crashes in Niger State, as reported by the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC). The FRSC’s Niger State Sector Commander, Mr. Kumar Tsukwam, disclosed this information during an interview in Minna.

    During the mentioned period, there were a total of 766 Road Traffic Crashes (RTCs) recorded in the state, involving approximately 5,272 individuals, out of which 2,607 sustained varying degrees of injuries.

  10. The Senate is set to begin the screening process for the 28 ministerial nominees put forward by President Bola Tinubu, starting next Monday. Sen. Adeyemi Adaramodu, the spokesperson of the Senate, made this announcement after the list of nominees was read in the upper chamber on Thursday.

    Although the Senate does not usually hold sessions on Mondays, they have suspended their rules to prioritize this national duty. Adaramodu assured that the screening process would be extensive, as the lawmakers are well aware of the high expectations placed on those who will assist President Bola Tinubu in fulfilling his mandate and the constitution.
