  1. Following the departure of Jose Peseiro, Super Eagles Technical Director Augustine Owen Eguavoen has stepped into the coaching role for the Nigerian football team, as reported by Soccernet.ng.

    Peseiro, 63, assumed the position as head coach of the Super Eagles after Nigeria’s exit from the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament in Cameroon. He took office in May 2022, leading Nigeria to the AFCON 2023 tournament in Ivory Coast.

  2. The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has revoked the licenses of 4,173 Bureaux De Change Operators, alleging that these institutions failed to adhere to regulatory provisions. This information was conveyed in a statement on Friday by the bank’s Acting Director, Corporate Communications, Sidi Ali Hakama.

    The apex bank clarified that this action is part of a broader initiative to rebuild confidence in the nation’s foreign exchange market. The list of affected BDC operators is available on the CBN’s website. Additionally, the CBN is in the process of revising the regulatory and supervisory guidelines for Bureau de Change operations in Nigeria. Compliance with these new requirements will be obligatory for all stakeholders in the sector.

  3. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed four new Executive Directors for the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN). This development was disclosed by Ajuri Ngelale, a presidential spokesperson, in a statement released on Friday.

    The newly appointed Executive Directors are slated to serve a renewable term of four years, contributing their expertise to the vital functions of the TCN.

    Umahi reiterated President Tinubu’s stance, stating, “Mr President insisted that they should go back to the status quo as far as this cement price is concerned for the common man.” He further urged the cement companies to comply with the directive, emphasizing its importance in achieving “a massive housing programme and the renewed hope agenda of concrete roads by the President.”
