Aviation employees, including pilots and engineers, have issued a notification regarding an indefinite nationwide strike set to commence on Tuesday, October 2, 2023. This decision aligns with the ongoing strike declared by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC). The strike is a response to the immense suffering, impoverishment, and hunger in the country due to the surge in petrol prices.
According to a report by Daily Trust, the Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (ATSSSAN), the National Association of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers (NAAPE), and the Association of Nigerian Aviation Professionals (ANAP), all integral unions in the aviation sector, have jointly confirmed their intention to participate in the strike. This move will significantly disrupt flight operations nationwide.
Adeniyi Ojo, the Managing Director of Water View Hotel located in Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State, has passed away.
On Thursday, around 10:00 hours, Mr. Ojo’s lifeless body was discovered on one of the beds in a hotel room, as per a police report.
In a race against time to avert the nationwide strike planned from October 3, the Federal Government has hastily summoned an emergency meeting with the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC).

A retired Major-General identified as Maj Gen RC Duru (rtd) was ambushed and abducted by unknown gunmen in the Orji General area of Owerri North Local Government Area, Imo State.
The retired Major-General was driving himself in a black Mercedes Benz ML jeep when the armed assailants carried out the ambush. The gunmen, numbering four and travelling in a Toyota Sienna, forcibly took control of the vehicle and abducted Maj Gen RC Duru.
An Ondo State High Court sitting in Akure has granted leave to the deputy governor of Ondo state, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, to serve all processes filed in the suit on the state House of Assembly, its speaker, Olamide Oladiji, and the Clerk, Benjamin Jaiyeola.
Justice O. Akintan-Osadebay ordered that all processes filed in the suit be served on the defendants by posting on the front side wall/fence or entrance gate or any conspicuous area of the Assembly Complex.
