  1. In a somber and tearful ceremony, the late 23-year-old Lady Police Constable, Miss. Mbanengen Ankyôv, who fell victim to the recent Oturkpo robbery attack, was laid to rest on the 27th of October, 2023. The heart-wrenching event took place in her hometown, Tse-ankyôv, situated behind NNPC Depot Mbaaku, within the Gwer Local Government Area of Benue State.

    Miss. Ankyôv was remembered as a dedicated and valiant police officer who had lost her life while on duty, bravely confronting the assailants during the tragic robbery incident.

  2. The recently retired Supreme Court Justice, Musa Dattijo Muhammad, has expressed his concern over the inadequate salary structure for Justices in Nigeria.

    During a valedictory court session held in his honor in Abuja on Friday, Justice Muhammad revealed that the Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court earns more than the Justices themselves.

  3. The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has vehemently denied being a terrorist organization, with its spokesman, Emma Powerful, making this assertion on Saturday. The statement followed the commendation of Justice A. Onovo of Enugu High Court for annulling the proscription of the separatist group, which IPOB referred to as a “black market” proscription.

    Back in 2017, Justice Abdul Kafarati had proscribed IPOB due to the group’s fervent advocacy for Biafra’s independence and the potential breakup of Nigeria. However, Justice Onovo reversed this ruling, simultaneously ordering the Southeast governors to pay N8 billion as compensation to IPOB’s leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

  4. The news of the passing of Chief Alaba Lawson, a former National President of the Nigeria Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) and the esteemed Iyalode of Yorubaland, was announced today in a statement issued from Abeokuta, Ogun State.

    The statement was released by Maku Abdul Rahaman, the Executive Secretary of the Ogun Chambers of Commerce, Industry Mines and Agriculture.

    Asemakaha is a highly accomplished professional and international finance consultant, with experience in several sectors of the economy.

  6. Medical students from Benue State University have staged a protest and taken control of the government house to voice their grievances, which include the arbitrary withdrawal of their classmates, inadequate access to water, and overcrowding with up to five students crammed into a single room instead of the designated two.

    The President of the medical student body, Imenger Charles, conveyed these concerns during discussions with Governor Hyacinth Alia, who had delegated his Chief of Staff, Mr. Paul Biam, to engage with the protesting students and reach a resolution.

  7. The Election Petition Tribunal in Benin, Edo State, has invalidated Destiny Enabulele’s election as the representative for the Ovia South West constituency in the State House of Assembly, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

    The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Sunday Aghedo, contested the election results declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and filed a case challenging Destiny Enabulele’s victory.

  8. Abba Burakita, a notorious thug in Kano, has voluntarily surrendered himself to the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Mohammed Usaini Gumel. Accompanied by his 40 followers and their weapons, Burakita handed himself over at the Bompai headquarters of Kano State Police Command.

    Abba Burakita had been one of the two notorious thugs declared wanted by CP Gumel, who had placed a N500,000 reward on their capture. After being pursued by the police, Burakita fled Kano. However, he later contacted his parents to express his desire to abandon thuggery but feared potential consequences from the police if he emerged from hiding.

  9. A group known as the “Lion Squad” has wreaked havoc upon the Ogwuaniocha community in Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State, resulting in the death of over 20 people and numerous injuries. The unknown gunmen, operating under this menacing name, have caused immense distress in the region, and local women, including many elderly individuals, have taken to the streets in protest.

    These women, distressed by the relentless violence, abductions, and property destruction in their community, rallied in Onitsha and surrounding areas to demand action against the “Lion Squad.” Their grievances include the abduction of their monarch, Igwe Oliver Nnaji, in 2021, whose whereabouts remain unknown to this day.

  10. Socio-political activist, Aisha Yesufu, has criticized former President Goodluck Jonathan for his recent visit to President Bola Tinubu.

    Jonathan visited the Presidential Villa in Abuja to congratulate President Tinubu on the Supreme Court’s verdict affirming his election.
