  1. The Benue State Government has announced plans to initiate the demarcation of the boundary between Oju and Konshisha Local Government Areas (LGAs) in order to bring an end to the persistent and violent land dispute between these neighboring regions.

    During a meeting with the leadership of the Igede Consultative Forum, the State Deputy Governor, Dr. Sam Ode, expressed the government’s commitment to resolving the crisis in the bordering communities by addressing the long-standing boundary issue between the two LGAs. Dr. Ode, who also chairs the Benue State Boundary Commission, assured that the government would take necessary steps to promote peaceful coexistence in the affected communities.

  2. Regina Daniels, the popular actress, has expressed her excitement about her new role. Taking to her Instagram page, Daniels announced her appointment as the social secretary of the 10th Senators’ Wives Association of Nigeria.

    Her husband, Ned Nwoko, resumed his position as a senator on July 6 after being officially inaugurated as a Member of the 10th Senate of the National Assembly on June 13. Nwoko, representing the Anioma, Delta North people, secured his seat by defeating the incumbent senator, Peter Nwaoboshi of the APC, in the February 2023 Delta North Senatorial elections.

  3. Nineteen-year-old Miss Ejikeme Mmesoma, a student from Anambra State, recently confessed to fabricating her Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) result in order to claim the top position. She has now written a letter to the examination body seeking leniency and apologizing for her actions.

    Mmesoma presented her letter of apology before the House of Representatives ad-hoc committee overseeing her case in Abuja on Wednesday. In her letter titled “Letter of Profound Apology,” she acknowledged the wrongdoing and expressed remorse for her actions.

  4. Nigeria’s Tobi Amusan, the world record-holder in women’s hurdles, has been charged with an alleged anti-doping rule violation. The Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) has leveled accusations against her, raising concerns about her potential participation in the upcoming world championships.

    The AIU formally brought forward charges against the Nigerian athlete, accusing her of three missed tests within a 12-month period. This development has cast doubt on Amusan’s involvement in the highly anticipated world championships.

  5. Unidentified gunmen executed a brazen kidnapping operation last night along the highly trafficked Otukpo-Ugbokolo road in Benue State. Numerous individuals have fallen victim to this audacious act.

    One of the abductees is Mrs. Donny Roberts, the spouse of the late Donny Roberts, former chairman of Ogbadibo Local Government. The entire community of Ogbadibo, as well as Mr. Eloyi Ogbe, a prominent figure and member of the APC, are fervently appealing for prayers to ensure the safe and prompt release of all those held captive.

  6. Justice Fadima Aminu of the Federal High Court sitting in Damaturu, Yobe State, has ordered a former Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Abdul Bulama and four others to enter their defence in the N450 million fraud charge preferred against them by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

    Ruling on a no-case submission by the defendants, Justice Aminu held that, “based on the testimonies of witnesses and exhibits tendered before the court”, the prosecution had established a prima facie case against the defendant to warrant them to enter their defence.

  7. President Bola Tinubu has continued consultation with key players on how to get the economy on sound footing.

    In this regard, the president and his vice president Kashim Shettima met with the Senate president, Godswill Akpabio and some governors including those of Imo, Kwara, Lagos and Ogun. Former governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano state was also part of the meeting.

  8. Peter Obi, Labour Party’s presidential candidate during the last election has visited Plateau State where he donated N5 million to an IDP camp.

    Obi, in a statement on his social media handles on Wednesday, said he visited the state on the occasion of his 62nd birthday to commiserate with the government over the killing of over 300 people in the area.
