  1. The President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Joe Ajaero, has been urgently hospitalized at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Owerri, where he is currently under medical care The Nation newspaper reports.

    The NLC’s Head of Information and Publicity, Comrade Benson Upah, has revealed that Ajaero’s right eye is entirely swollen shut.

  2. Several young women who were recently rescued from a brothel have come forward with disturbing allegations, claiming that they were forced to engage in intimate encounters with a minimum of 10 men each day under the directives of their managers.

    The group consisted of approximately 29 girls, among them two minors, all of whom stated that their enforced participation aimed to generate profits for the brothel’s owner.

  3. The Court of Appeal has upheld the election of the Senator representing Benue North East Senatorial District, Emmanuel Udende.

    The court upturned the judgement of the lower court, which declared Gabriel Suswam of the Peoples Democratic Party winner of the February 28 poll in the state.

  4. A Federal High Court in Abuja has granted former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Godwin Emefiele, an extension until January 25 to personally appear in court and clarify the circumstances surrounding the $53 million judgment debt linked to the Paris Club refund. Failure to appear may result in an arrest warrant being issued.

    The decision was prompted by Emefiele and CBN’s legal representative, Audu Anuga, SAN, who noted their client’s unavailability due to ongoing custody.

  5. Three policemen lost their lives during an attack on a checkpoint located in the Tsafe local government area of Zamfara state.

    According to a reliable source, the policemen were engaged in a routine stop-and-search operation along the Funtua-Gudau Highway when the bandits launched their assault.

  6. The Campaign Council for Bayelsa’s All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate, Timipre Sylva, strongly criticized Governor Douye Diri on Tuesday for his alleged attempts to obstruct their candidate’s appearance on the ballot.

    The Council asserted that Diri’s endeavors to impede Sylva have proved ineffective. Furthermore, the campaign team warned against the practice of candidates resorting to clandestine methods to secure the governorship position.

  7. A popular market in Lagos State, the Ladipo Plank Market, was ravaged by a midnight blaze, leading to significant damage to merchandise and property.

    Dr. Femi Oke-Osanyitolu, the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Authority, confirmed that there were no casualties in the incident.

  8. The Appeal Court in Abuja in Wednesday threw out the suit brought before it by the All Progressives Congress candidate in the last senatorial election in Benue South, Dan Onjeh against the election of Senator Abba Moro.

    The National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal had upheld the election of Senator Moro over Onjeh’s failure to prove his case beyond reasonable doubt.

Brownhill Investments Company Limited, organizers of the annual ‘Warri Again Concert,’ have initiated a legal action against hip-hop artiste David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, alleging a breach of their agreement/contract. The lawsuit, filed as EHC/183/2023 before the Delta State High Court in Effurun, seeks a total of N2.3 billion in claims.

    The suit, designated as EHC/183/2023, was brought before the Delta State High Court in Effurun by Brownhill Investments Company Limited, which is owned by former Nigeria Football Federation President, Mr. Amaju Pinnick.

  10. The Senator-Elect for Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has alleged that the Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, made an attempt to harm her during the senatorial election in March. She claimed that the governor’s associates opened fire on her vehicle during the incident.

    During her appearance on Tuesday’s episode of Channels Television’s Politics Today, Akpoti-Uduaghan detailed the incident: “I heard gunshots; his henchmen fired at my vehicle; I possess video evidence of that. It was the immediate past, they were wearing APC shirts, and one of them was Amoka, who served as the returning officer for Okehi local government. He led the group of ten men who fired at me, and I have video footage of the incident.”
