  1. In response to a statement made by Twitter influencer Daniel Regha concerning the arrest of 100 individuals suspected of homosexuality in Warri, Delta state, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Bright Edafe, has emphasized that cross-dressing is not deemed an offense in Nigeria.

    The Delta State Police Command apprehended 100 individuals during a same-sex wedding event held at a Warri hotel on a recent Tuesday. In light of this incident, Regha expressed the opinion that prominent crossdressers like Bobrisky and James Brown should also face arrest as a deterrent.

  2. Pa Taiwo Akinkunmi, the visionary creator of the Nigerian flag, has passed away at the age of 87. The sad news was shared by his son, Akinkunmi Akinwumi Samuel, who announced the demise through a heartfelt Facebook post on Wednesday.

    In his post, Samuel wrote, “Life is indeed transient; I can say boldly you lived a life with a landmark. Continue to rest on, my father! Pa Michael Taiwo Akinkunmi (O.F.R) Great Man has gone.”

  3. A notable achievement has been reached as the British Government confers the highly esteemed Chevening and Commonwealth UK scholarships upon 127 deserving Nigerians, granting them the opportunity to pursue a diverse range of master’s and PhD programs in 2023.

    Dr. Richard Montgomery, the British High Commissioner, conveyed his congratulations to the successful recipients who emerged victorious in the rigorous application and interview process. His sentiments were expressed through a statement released on Wednesday.

  4. FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and the esteemed veteran singer Innocent Idibia, commonly known as 2Baba, have been recognized as part of the ‘100 Most Notable Peace Icons in Africa’.

    As reported by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), these two prominent figures were included among other Africans in the list that was unveiled by the organizers on their website on Wednesday.

    5. The Lagos State Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC), the highest decision-making body of the State All Progressives Congress (APC), has met with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Speaker Mudashiru Obasa.

    It was gathered that the meeting, which was held at Lagos House, Marina, had in attendance former Deputy Gov Mrs Adejoke Adefulire, Cardinal James Odunmbaku, Dr Yomi Finnih, Ganiyu Olarenwaju Solomon, APC Lagos Chairman, Cornelius Ojelabi and other party stalwarts.

    6. A lawsuit has been filed against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), and the Minister of Art, Culture, and Creative Economy, Mrs Hannatu Musawa.

    It was gathered that the legal suit was filed by the Incorporated Trustee of Concerned Nigeria, Chief (Dr) Patrick Eholor, and Thomas Markus.

    7. A charge has gone out to soldiers of the Nigerian Army to ensure their absolute loyalty to the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, President Bola Tinubu remains intact. The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 81 Division Nigerian Army (NA), Major General Mohammed Takuti Usman gave the charge on Wednesday, stressing that the Nigerian Armed Forces would not condone any form of disloyalty.

    Speaking while addressing soldiers at the 35 Artillery Brigade, Alamala, Abeokuta, Ogun State, Usman stated that their loyalty must be to the President first, and then down the ladder, to the Chief of Defence Staff, Chief of Army Staff, down to their Brigade Commander.

    8. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reacted to the demise of the designer of the Nigerian flag, Pa Taiwo Akinkunmi.

    IDOMA VOICE reports that Pa Akinkunmi died at age 84, and his son Akinwumi Samuel also confirmed his demise via his Facebook page on Wednesday.

    9. The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), 46 individuals were apprehended at local nightclubs, commonly referred to as Gidan Gala, in Gombe State. The arrested group consists of 32 females and 14 males.

    The NSCDC State Public Relations Officer, Mu’azu Sa’ad, announced during the parade of the suspects that the arrests aligned with Governor Muhammadu Yahaya’s directive to close all local nightclubs.

    10. Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has voiced his opinion that Nigerians might have rallied behind Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, in the February 25, 2023 general election if he had presented a stronger candidacy.

    Wike shared this perspective during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today program on Wednesday. The former Governor of Rivers State indicated that he threw his support behind President Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), instead of Atiku Abubakar from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in the fiercely contested election.
