  1. The Nigerian Army announced on Monday that it had dismissed two soldiers, Corporal Innocent Joseph and Lance Corporal Jacob Gani, who were accused of stealing armored cables from the Dangote refinery on April 14, 2024.

    The soldiers were apprehended at the company’s main gate with 897 armored cables that had been cut to size, after entering the facility in an Acura jeep.

  2. The federal government has directed that admission to tertiary institutions should not be given to candidates less than 18 years old.

    The Minister of Education, Tahir Mamman, gave the directive on Monday during a monitoring exercise of the ongoing 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) in Bwari, Federal Capital Territory.

  3. Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, has declared that an aeroplane belonging to the state is missing, IDOMA VOICE reports.

    Tersoo Kula, the Chief Press Secretary to the current Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, quoted the governor as making the claim during a Zoom meeting with the Benue diaspora community.

  4. President Bola Tinubu launched the African Counter-Terrorism Summit at the Office of the National Security Adviser in Abuja today.

    This summit, organised by Nigeria and aided by the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism, spans from today until tomorrow, April 23, 2024.

  5. Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, expressed opposition to the establishment of state police as a solution to the ongoing security challenges in the country.

    It is recalled that on February 16, President Bola Tinubu and state governors reached an agreement to create state police as part of efforts to address the increasing insecurity.

  9. The federal government has announced plans to sell off the five electricity Distribution Companies (DisCos) currently managed by banks and Asset Management Company (AMCON) to reputable technical power operators within the next three months.

    It’s worth noting that the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) is presently managed by the United Bank of Africa (UBA).

  10. The 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, has expressed serious concerns about the pricing of the Lagos-Calabar Highway project.

    In a statement issued via his official X handle on Monday morning, Obi said the price allocated for the construction of the highway project should be thoroughly reviewed.
