  1. The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Delta State has called on Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to implement palliative measures aimed at alleviating the hardships faced by workers and citizens following the removal of fuel subsidies by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

    During a press briefing in Asaba, the state chairman of NLC, Goodluck Ofobruku, stressed the urgent need for action. He outlined some proposed palliatives, including reducing taxes, increasing basic salaries, providing transport and utility allowances, and offering subsidized bus services for transportation.

Phrank Shaibu, the Special Assistant on Public Communication to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has accused former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike and Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State of closely monitoring judges as the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal reaches its conclusion.

    The NUT in a communique after its emergency State Wing Executive Council meeting in Makurdi today 24th July, signed by its State Chairman, Comrade Terna Akuma and the State Acting Secretary, Comrade Jeremiah Ochonu, also urged the Fr Hyacinth Alia administration to restore all the promotions of teachers which it reversed and direct the payment of their arrears within the stipulated time.

  6. Civil society groups operating under the umbrella of Edo Civil Society Organisations have taken to the streets of Benin City, the capital of Edo State, to voice their strong opposition to the recent fuel price hike.

    Protesters marched through major streets, expressing their condemnation of the fuel price increase and the perceived high cost of governance in Nigeria.

  7. Popular Anambra celebrity native doctor, Akwa Okuku Tiwara Aki, has allegedly been kidnapped.

    The incident occurred at his Triple C Hotel located in Oba, Anambra State. According to sources, during the abduction, the gunmen also shot two security officers.

  8. Abdullahi Mahruf, popularly known as Trinityguy, an Ibadan-based skit-maker, has been released on bail from detention at the Agodi correctional centre. The release came on Friday evening after Trinityguy met the bail conditions set for his release.

    The news of his release was confirmed in a verified Facebook post by his colleague, Abdul Gafar Ahmad Oluwatoyin, also known as Lawyer Kunle. He expressed his well-wishes for Trinityguy, hoping that Almighty Allah guides him on the right path. The Lagos State Government has given approval for a mass burial of 103 corpses recovered in the aftermath of the October 2020 #EndSARS protests, which called for the disbandment of the defunct Special Anti-Robbery Squad. However, the government clarified that these bodies were not recovered from the Lekki tollgate.
