  1. The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has issued a directive to banks, instructing them to cease accepting foreign currency as collateral for loans denominated in naira. This mandate was conveyed through a circular published on the CBN’s website on Monday.

    The bank stated that it has noted the practice of customers pledging foreign currencies as security for naira loans and has implemented an immediate prohibition on this practice.

  2. Mabel Makun, the wife of popular comedian AY, has expressed her stance on handling disrespect by stating that distance is her new response.

    This statement from Mabel comes shortly after her husband confirmed their marital challenges. AY recently acknowledged his flaws, expressing concern that their twenty-year friendship and marriage were on shaky ground.

  3. The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has made it clear that Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 election, is free to depart from the party if he desires to do so. This statement was conveyed by NLC spokesman Benson Upah on Sunday.

    Upah reiterated the NLC’s stance on the leadership of Julius Abure, emphasizing that despite the union’s view of an ‘illegal’ national convention that reinstated Abure as the national chairman of the Labour Party, they do not recognize his leadership.

  4. President Bola Tinubu has approved the establishment of the National Health Fellows Programme.

    In a statement on Monday, the presidential spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, said young Nigerian fellows will be engaged from all the 774 local government areas in the country.
  5. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has disclosed that it has recovered N30 billion naira from the suspended Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu.

    The anti-graft agency added that 50 bank accounts are under investigation in the ongoing investigation into the financial mismanagement allegation against the suspended Minister and the erstwhile chief executive officer of the now-suspended National Social Investment Programme Authority (NSIPA), Halima Shehu.

    The Minister said that all the necessary things have been put in place and he has the letter from the airline signalling their intention to resume flights to Nigeria.

  9. Impeached Edo State Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, has described his impeachment by the State House of Assembly as illegal and injustice that should be fought against.
