  1. On Tuesday, a mass burial was held for fifteen victims of a suspected herdsmen attack in Mbakor and Mbolom, located in the Gwer East Local Government Area of Benue State. Governor Hyacinth Alia expressed his determination to ensure that such tragic incidents do not occur again during his tenure, as he vowed to take decisive action.

    Represented by his Deputy, Sam Ode, at the funeral, the Governor urged residents of the community to remain vigilant and proactive in safeguarding themselves against future threats.

  2. The Kano State Government has announced its intention to arraign former governor Abdullahi Ganduje in court, along with his wife Hafsat and six others, on charges related to alleged misappropriation of state funds and diversion of state-owned landed properties.

    According to an arraignment summons obtained by our correspondent, Ganduje and the other respondents are facing an eight-count charge. These charges include allegations of dollar bribery, as well as diversion and misappropriation of funds, amounting to $413,000 and N1.38 billion.

  3. The Gboko residence of the late former Benue State Governor, Aper Aku, has been engulfed in flames by hoodlums, according to reports. Aku’s daughter, Deborah, revealed that the incident occurred on Monday, with all occupants safely evacuated from the building before the fire escalated.

    Addressing journalists in Makurdi, the state capital, Deborah recounted the harrowing ordeal. She explained that the trouble began when a man wielding a cutlass arrived at the residence, threatening the occupants. He claimed that he had been informed his goat died after drinking water from the house, and he vowed to take action.

  4. President Bola Tinubu has approved the establishment of the National Health Fellows Programme.

    In a statement on Monday, the presidential spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, said young Nigerian fellows will be engaged from all the 774 local government areas in the country.
  5. The Senior Staff Association of Electricity and Allied Companies is calling on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s government to reverse the recent 245% electricity tariff hike imposed by electricity distribution companies.

    In a statement issued on Monday, the National Secretary of the Association, Nnamdi Ajibo, expressed deep concern over the tariff increase affecting Band A electricity customers, approved by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission last Tuesday.

  6. Some members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the House of Representatives have demanded the immediate resignation of the party’s Acting National Chairman, Umar Ililya Damagum.

    The party members threatened to dump the PDP for another party if Damagum does not resign immediately, as they accused him of anti-party activities.

  9. The Police Command in Ebonyi has arrested a woman who specialises in abducting and selling children and rescued no fewer than six of the children. The woman, Ngozi Blessing Abia, also known as Mercy Francis, has carried out her nefarious activities in Lagos, Ebonyi, Anambra and Edo.

  10. Andrew Emwanta, former Edo State Commissioner for Information, has made claims regarding Governor Godwin Obaseki’s appointment of Omobayo Marvellous Godwins, a chieftain of the Labour Party (LP), as his new deputy.

    Emwanta alleges that Obaseki’s decision stems from his close ties with the LP, suggesting a strategic move in preparation for the upcoming gubernatorial election in the state. He further asserts that Obaseki might be secretly backing the LP’s candidate, Olumude Akpata, in case of the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) inability to field a candidate due to internal crises.
