1. The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) have revealed their demands from President Bola Tinubu-led government.

   IDOMA VOICE had earlier reported that the organised labour unions, on Tuesday, embarked on a nationwide strike over the assault on NLC president Joe Ajaero.

2. Troops from Operation Safe Haven apprehend Yakubu Shanano for the alleged murder of a mobile police officer in Plateau State. The incident occurred in Bokkos Local Government Area, where the officer, attached to the military task force for peacekeeping, lost his life.

   Captain Oya James, the spokesperson for the Military Taskforce, confirmed Shanano’s arrest along with 14 other suspects engaged in various criminal activities, including kidnapping and drug trafficking. The arrests took place during Operation Hakorin Damisa IV, conducted from November 6 to 13, 2023.

3. Nigerian legislators found themselves barred from their offices on Tuesday as the National Assembly complex was sealed by officials from the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) in adherence to a nationwide industrial action.

   In response to the assault on NLC President Comrade Joe Ajaero in Imo State, the National Assembly complex witnessed a lockdown, preventing both human and vehicular access. Members of the legislative chambers, National Assembly staff, journalists, and others were denied entry as the entrances were firmly closed.

4. The Central Bank of Nigeria has announced its intention to extend the validity of the old N200, N500, and N1,000 notes indefinitely. This is as the apex bank declared its desire to extend the validity of old naira notes beyond any expiration date. According to the bank, it is working with the relevant authorities to vacate the subsisting court ruling on the same subject.

5. Gunmen believed to be Fulani herdsmen have reportedly seized Amina Audu, the suspended chairman of Okpokwu LGA in Benue State, alongside two others. According to sources in Makurdi, the abduction took place on the Makurdi – Naka road while Audu and her companions were en route to Makurdi.

   Allegedly, armed herdsmen halted their vehicle, firing shots before abducting Audu, a relative, and their driver. Witnesses, preferring anonymity, disclosed that after the victims were robbed of their belongings, they were taken into the bush. The assailants then towed the vehicle to a nearby village, while local guards, overpowered by the attackers’ superior firepower, fled the scene, Daily post reports.

6. President Bola Tinubu has disclosed that his administration inherited serious liabilities from Muhammadu Buhari’s government. In a statement on Tuesday by his spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, President Tinubu made this known on Monday night in Mecca, Saudi Arabia.

   The President lamented that Nigeria has serious deficits in port, power infrastructure and agro-allied facilities, saying that his administration would ensure that all the shortcomings are addressed.

7. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has debunked reports that the commission manipulated accredited figures of voters in the Kogi Governorship Election results uploaded on the INEC Result Viewing (IReV) portal.

   Recall that on Saturday, November 11, there were off-season governorship elections in Kogi, Bayelsa, and Imo states.

8. The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has responded to those asking it to obey the order restraining it from proceeding with its industrial action.

   Speaking with Arise News on Tuesday, NLC’s General Secretary, Emmanuel Ugboaja, argued that the union members are not politicians who will be asked to go to court.

9. The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has distanced itself from a viral publication which claimed a nationwide electricity blackout was imminent following the industrial action by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC).

   IDOMA VOICE reports that many affiliates of organized labour, on Tuesday, complied with the strike directive and suspended their services.

10. The Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) National Working Committee (NWC) has appointed Setonji Koshoedo as the party’s acting National Secretary.
