  1. The President of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, Bello Bodejo has reportedly been arrested by Nigeria’s secret police.

    Bodejo was reportedly arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS) at the union’s head office, Tundun Maliya Cattle Market, Kilometre 22, Abuja-Keffi Expressway, Tundun-Wada, Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

  2. Nigeria will face eternal rivals Cameroon in the Round of 16 at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. The encounter will hold at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium, Abidjan on Saturday.

  6. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is set to arraign the immediate-past governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano, on Wednesday, January 24, before Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court, Abuja.

    The charges against him relate to alleged money laundering amounting to N4 billion.

  7. Members of the Plateau State House of Assembly from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who were ousted by the Court of Appeal, have now arrived at the Assembly Complex, pressing to be allowed entry into Tuesday’s session.

    Recall that the Court of Appeal removed the 16 members because the PDP in Plateau State lacked the organizational structure to endorse candidates in the previous general elections. Despite their removal, these lawmakers had vowed to attend the Assembly’s Tuesday session alongside their counterparts.

  8. The Kaduna Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kabir Nadabo, has confirmed that a tragic lone accident along the Kano-Abuja expressway resulted in the loss of 16 lives, with four individuals sustaining injuries.

    The incident occurred when a bus traveling from Kano to Markurdi in Benue state crashed at Taban Sani Junction, Tashar Yari, along the Zaria-Kano expressway. The cause of the accident is attributed to overspeeding, leading to the driver losing control of the vehicle and colliding with a ditch on Sunday at 11:20 am.

  9. During the trial at an Ikeja High Court yesterday, Michael Adeniran, the father of the deceased Whitney Adeniran, revealed that Whitney had already passed away before being taken to the hospital by the management of Chrisland Schools. Adeniran, who is the first prosecution witness, shared this information during cross-examination by the school’s counsel, Bolaji Ayorinde (SAN).

    Adeniran informed Justice Oyindamola Ogala that the school nurse had informed him that Whitney’s eyes had dilated, but the nurse could not confirm her death as she was not a doctor. The testimony was part of the ongoing trial of Chrisland School, Opebi, over the alleged death of Whitney. The school, along with other defendants, faces charges of involuntary manslaughter and reckless and negligent acts.

  10. Officials assured that accessing the Federal Government’s student loan program will be a seamless, automated process without human contact. The Executive Secretary and CEO of the Students Loan Board, Dr. Akintunde Sawyerr, stated that funds for successful students would be transferred directly to the schools’ accounts. The scheme has been expanded to include young Nigerians interested in skill development outside tertiary institutions.

    Dr. Sawyerr, along with Dr. Zacch Adedeji, Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), spoke to reporters after a meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Dr. Adedeji highlighted the importance of education tax as a major funding source for the loan scheme.
