1. The bill seeking to create Adada State, an additional state in the South-East geo-political zone, passed its first reading in the Senate on Tuesday.

   The bill, cited as the “Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (Alteration) Bill, 2024 (SB. 482),” was sponsored by Senator Okey Ezea, representing the Enugu North Senatorial District.

2. The Imo State House of Assembly has suspended four members over an alleged plot to impeach the Speaker, Chike Olemgbe. Speaker Olemgbe disclosed this development on Tuesday.

   The suspended lawmakers are Samuel Otuibe (Ahiazu-Mbaise), Henry Agbasonu (Ezinihitte-Mbaise), Chidiebere Ogbunikpa (Okigwe), and Dominic Ezerioha (Oru-West).

3. Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, has issued a stern warning to those planning to remove Ochi Idoma Elaigwu Odogbo, declaring that no one will depose him under his administration, to avoid triggering insecurity.

   The governor’s statement, delivered by his Deputy, Sam Ode, was made at Ochi Idoma Square in Otukpo Local Government Area of the State.

4. The Edo State Government, led by Governor Godwin Obaseki, has announced plans to retrieve over 20 vehicles still in the possession of former Deputy Governor, Comrade Phillip Shaibu.

   IDOMA VOICE recalls that the Joint Action Committee (JAC), comprising SSANU and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU), a few days ago issued a two-week ultimatum to the Federal Government to pay its members the four months withheld salaries.

9. The lawmaker representing the Bonny/Degema federal constituency of Rivers State, Cyril Hart, on Tuesday, accused the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, of sidelining new legislators during debates.
