  1. The House of Representatives Committee on Public Petitions has authorized the issuance of an arrest warrant for the Central Bank Governor, Mr. Olayemi Cardoso, the Accountant General of the Federation, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Madein, and 17 others. This decision comes in response to their persistent refusal to appear before the committee to address inquiries regarding their operations.

    During the committee’s session on Tuesday, Rep Fred Agbedi (PDP-Bayelsa) motioned for the adoption of the arrest warrant, citing the continuous absence of the invitees despite being summoned four times. Agbedi emphasized the necessity of taking this action to compel their attendance.

  2. The Supreme Court has imposed a fine of N40 million on Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Mike Ozekhome, for submitting a frivolous, vexatious, and irritating motion concerning the 2019 Imo State governorship.

    The court dismissed an application by Emeka Ihedioha of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) seeking a certificate of return as the rightful governor of Imo state. Ozekhome, Ihedioha’s lawyer, was penalized for filing a motion to revalidate the suit that removed him as governor in 2019.

  3. The Lamidi Apapa faction of the Labour Party has issued a strong rebuke against the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, for his recent criticisms of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

    In response, the National Publicity Secretary of the Labour Party faction, Abayomi Arabambi, accused Obi of still being in the “euphoria of 2023 Presidential Election defeat shock.”

  4. The Ebonyi State Police Command has provided details regarding the unfortunate death of Ayogu Evans, a 300-level student of Ebonyi State University, who lost his life in a road crash while allegedly being pursued by police officers on Saturday, December 2.

    According to the State Police Command’s spokesperson, SP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, Evans, a sociology student, sped away during a routine “stop and search” at a checkpoint along Nkaliki Road in Abakaliki, the state capital. The pursuit ended in a ghastly car crash.

  8. Justice Mohammed Madugu of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory in Bwari has ruled in favour of Edozie Njoku, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), dismissing all forgery allegations made against him by the Nigeria Police.

    The police had accused Njoku and APGA’s Youth leader, Chukwuemeka Nwoga, of conspiring to alter a Supreme Court judgment originally delivered by Justice Mary Peter Odili (retired).

  9. The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, has expressed regret over the recent airstrike in Kaduna State which resulted in 85 fatalities and several injuries.

    During his visit to the north-western state on Tuesday, Lagbaja emphasized that under his leadership, the army will take measures to ensure that such a tragedy does not happen again in future military operations.

  10. The governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki has said he will not support what is not fair and just in the upcoming gubernatorial elections.
