  1. The Appeal Court in Abuja has upheld the tribunal’s ruling confirming Simon Lalong, the Minister of Labour and Employment, as the Senator representing Plateau South.

    A three-judge panel, presided over by Justice Williams Daudu, affirmed the tribunal’s decision regarding the election outcome. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) initially declared Senator Napoleon Bali of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) as the winner.

  2. The Canadian High Commission in Abuja has temporarily suspended its operations following a fire incident that occurred on Monday.

    As reported by NAN, the high commission’s premises at 13010G, Palm Close, Diplomatic Drive in the Central Business District of Abuja were devoid of staff, except for security personnel.

  3. Oganized Labor has declared an all-encompassing and indefinite nationwide strike, commencing on Tuesday, November 14, 2023.

    This announcement comes following an emergency meeting held by the National Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) in Abuja.

On Monday, students of Imo State University (IMSU) openly ridiculed Governor Hope Uzodinma during his campaign visit to the institution in preparation for the upcoming gubernatorial election on Saturday. The state is currently embroiled in controversies stemming from police activities and opposition parties’ counteraccusations.

    In a video circulated online, the students were seen chanting “no light, no light” and raising their voices in protest as the governor took the podium to address them. The students refused to grant the governor an audience due to a four-day power outage at the institution, reportedly caused by a strike by electricity workers in solidarity with NLC president Joe Ajaero, who had been assaulted.

  5. The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, has imposed restrictions on the movement of vehicles and transportation via waterways in Imo, Kogi, and Bayelsa. These restrictions will take effect starting from Friday.

    Egbetokun’s decision aligns with measures aimed at ensuring transparent, fair, and credible elections in these three states. Additionally, he has prohibited state security outfits such as Ebubeagu and other similar entities from conducting operations during this period.

    In this latest amendment, the electoral body has reinstated the name of Timipre Sylva, representing the All Progressives Congress (APC), which had been initially removed in compliance with a court order.

    Speaking at a lecture and lunch in Abuja on Tuesday, the Special Adviser to the President on Economic Matters, Tope Fasua, said the administration is working on economic policies to strengthen the Naira.

  9. The President of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), Festus Osifo, has revealed why the President of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Joe Ajaero, was in Imo State on November 1, 2023.

    Osifo, on Tuesday, said Ajaero was not Imo State for politics but to fight for the rights of aggrieved workers in the state.

  10. The Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga has debunked reports claiming that the governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma is blocking the release of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.

    Onanuga noted the news is aimed at building resentment against the governor and sabotaging his chances at the upcoming election on November 11.
