Naira appreciates against Dollar at official market

The naira recorded an appreciation against the US dollar at the official foreign exchange market at the start of the week.

Data from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) showed that the naira strengthened on Monday to N1,418.95 against the dollar, up from N1,421.63 traded on Friday, January 23, 2026.

This represents a gain of N2.68 for the naira against the dollar during the period under review.

Meanwhile, at the parallel (black) market, the naira remained flat at N1,490 per dollar on Monday, the same rate it traded at last Friday.

The development comes as Nigeria’s foreign reserves stood at $46.01 billion as of last Thursday.
