Naira appreciates massively against Dollar
The Naira continued its upward trajectory against the United States dollar, sustaining gains at the official foreign exchange market on Friday.
According to data from the Central Bank of Nigeria, the local currency strengthened to N1,366.23 per dollar on Friday, rising from N1,371.51 the previous day. This represents a daily appreciation of N5.28.
At the parallel, or black market, the Naira held steady at N1,440 per dollar on Friday, unchanged from Thursday.
Reports indicate that since Tuesday, March 10, the Naira has steadily rallied at the official forex market, accumulating a total gain of N35.17 per dollar over four days.
Conversely, at the parallel market, multiple Bureau de Change operators confirmed that the Naira has weakened by N20 during the same period.
The movement comes as Nigeria’s external reserves were recorded at $50.03 billion as of March 11, 2026.
