Nantes’ hopes for the remainder of the Ligue 1 season have taken a hit as Nigerian winger Moses Simon faces a prolonged spell on the sidelines. The club confirmed that Simon will miss the rest of the campaign following a serious injury sustained during Nigeria’s friendly against Mali.
The 28-year-old was forced off the field on Tuesday night after a collision with the Malian goalkeeper in the first half of the match held in Marrakech. Immediate medical attention was provided, and Simon was swiftly taken to the hospital for further treatment.
“Moses Simon was injured yesterday against Mali. Our Nigerian striker suffers from a broken fibula which means the end of the season,” the club said in a statement.
“FC Nantes is already keen to provide its full support to its attacker and wishes him a speedy recovery!”
