Serie A champions, Napoli have declared their intention to initiate legal proceedings against an Italian toy store concerning a doll.
The club, Partenopei, argues that the unlicensed doll strikingly resembles Victor Osimhen.
This doll gained immense popularity on social media due to its striking resemblance to Osimhen. It features distinctive elements such as a protective mask with the number 9, a light blue jersey, and a tuft of blond, curly hair.
In an official statement released on Thursday evening, Napoli clarified that the doll is not authorized by the club or Osimhen, thus violating his image rights. Legal action against the company is being planned, adding to the growing controversies surrounding Osimhen at a time when Napoli is grappling with his uncertain contract extension and strained relationship due to contentious TikTok videos.
