Nasarawa gay site busted, six suspects arrested

Police in Masaka, Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, have arrested six suspects who have been operating a gay dating site to woo their victims before robbing them.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, DSP Ramhan Nansel, in a statement obtained by Daily Trust in Lafia on Monday, explained that the suspects’ mode of operation was to arrange dates for their victims through a match-making process and forcefully take away their belongings.

He said the police in a sting operation, raided the hideout of some notorious criminals and arrested the suspects: Sunday Michael, Luka Musa, Joy Sunday, Elijah Ishaya, Agada Sandra and Abdulrahman Tijani.

He said the suspects usually threatened their victims with weapons and compelled them to disclose their bank details for cash withdrawal before freeing them.

“Consequently, the sum of N150,000, which they collected from one of their victims who came in from Imo State on 30/7/2022 was recovered from the suspects as an exhibit.

“The suspects confessed to have so far, lured eight victims via the same mode of operation and have made N1,360,000 as proceed of crime from their victims at different times,” he concluded.

He advised the public to be mindful of the kind of friends they make on social media.
