Nathan Tella joins Bayer Leverkusen from Southampton

Bundesliga outfit Bayer Leverkusen have unveiled the acquisition of Nathan Tella from Southampton. The 24-year-old forward has inked a comprehensive five-year contract with his new club and will sport jersey number 19.

Expressing his enthusiasm about joining Die Werkself, Tella said, “Numerous young players from the Premier League have had the opportunity to showcase their talents in the Bundesliga and have significantly progressed here. The stadiums and the vibrant fan culture also captivate me. However, the primary reason behind my decision is clearly the Leverkusen team.”

He continued, “They have made an indelible mark, reaching the semi-finals of the Europa League last season. I am genuinely eager to continue treading that path with Bayer 04.”

Tella, born in Nigeria, had a noteworthy presence at Southampton, featuring in three league matches during the ongoing season. In these appearances, he contributed with a goal and an assist. Last season, Tella’s skills were displayed during a loan spell at Burnley, where he played an instrumental role in their Championship title win and subsequent promotion before rejoining Southampton.
