Vigilant members of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Udu Branch, Delta State, led by David Omage, have apprehended a fake lawyer, Olubuwe Ossai Silas, on Tuesday.
Silas was caught while fraudulently using a lawyer’s seal to prepare legal documents under a false identity, claiming to be Simon Sabuke.
The NBA Udu Branch Chairman, Edmund Odohisi, immediately reported the incident to the Ovwian Police Station, where Silas is now being held. The police have assured that the case will be thoroughly investigated to deter others from similar fraudulent activities.
Odohisi emphasized that the NBA maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards impersonators and quacks within the legal profession, stressing that the full weight of the law would be applied. He also highlighted the Udu Branch’s commitment to maintaining the integrity of the legal profession, having previously warned against the misuse of NBA car stickers by non-lawyers.
