NBTE: How to convert your HND certificate to BSc

The National Board for Technical Education has introduced an online supplementary program for individuals who hold a Higher National Diploma (HND), allowing them to upgrade their credentials to a Bachelor’s Degree through a one-year online program in collaboration with internationally recognized universities.

This announcement was officially communicated through a press release from the board’s Head of Media Unit, Mrs. Fatima Abubakar, and is aimed at facilitating the academic advancement of HND holders.

Outlined below are the sequential instructions for HND holders seeking to elevate their qualifications to a BSc degree via the NBTE’s one-year program:

  1. Possession of an HND certificate from a recognized and approved polytechnic or monotechnic institution is a prerequisite.

  2. Access the admission portal at https://admission.topup.nbte.gov.ng and log in if you have already established an account.

  3. Provide accurate and complete information concerning your existing HND certification.

  4. Upon successful account creation, proceed to initiate a new application.

  5. Choose university programs that are aligned with the technical and vocational fields endorsed by the NBTE.

  6. Upon selecting your preferred course, you will be given the opportunity to designate your desired educational institute. Detailed program fees for the chosen institution will be displayed, along with a link to view additional information about the institute on their institutional profile page.

  7. Following the submission of your application form, you can monitor the progress of your application under the ‘my applications’ section. To facilitate the processing of your admission, a form fee of USD 100 must be submitted.

  8. A receipt for the application form fee payment can be downloaded from the payments tab.

  9. After your admission is sanctioned by the university, you can retrieve your admission letter from the ‘my application’ section.

This initiative by the National Board for Technical Education offers HND holders the opportunity to enhance their academic qualifications through a streamlined and accessible online program, collaborating with internationally accredited universities.
