The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested Damilare Ajiboye, also known as ‘Na God,’ a drug kingpin who had been evading capture for 12 months. Ajiboye was apprehended after a raid on his warehouse in the Akala area of Mushin, Lagos.
NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi announced in a statement on Sunday in Abuja that the arrest took place on Wednesday. During the raid, 1,101 kg of a potent cannabis strain known as Ghana Loud was recovered from the warehouse on September 4, 2023.
Babafemi further explained that Ajiboye was arrested in a bank in Ogun State following a coordinated effort by the agency’s Directorate of Assets and Financial Investigation. The investigation led to the discovery and freezing of 20 bank accounts linked to the suspect.
In a related incident, NDLEA operatives in Lagos arrested Alhaji Bashir Talba, a wanted community leader and Sarkin Yamma of Badagry, on Friday. His arrest followed the earlier detention of his two wives and son, along with the seizure of 226.2 kg of cannabis from their homes in Badagry on September 18.
In another operation in Lagos, on September 24, NDLEA recovered over 9.7 kg of cannabis sativa and 50 liters of “monkey tail,” a cannabis-infused alcoholic concoction, from a suspect, Florence Moses, in the Badore area of Ajah, Lekki.
