Neighbor stabs 65-year-old caretaker over witchcraft allegations in Port Harcourt

A middle-aged man, identified only as Nnanna, allegedly stabbed his 65-year-old neighbor, Mr. Monday Reuben, over accusations that the victim was a wizard.

The incident occurred yesterday at 37 Okwelle Street, Mile 2 Diobu, in the Port Harcourt City Local Government Area of Rivers State.

According to reports, Nnanna attacked Reuben, stabbing him in the neck and head after accusing him of being responsible for his misfortunes. The suspect fled the scene after the alleged attack and is currently on the run.

Reuben, still in pain, explained that the altercation began when they were working together to move sand. He called Nnanna to move aside, but the suspect allegedly took offense, accusing Reuben of being a witch. Nnanna reportedly threatened to kill him and flee.

Reuben recounted, “He went and grabbed a bottle, broke it, and then stabbed me on the neck Tuesday night. This morning, he broke into my house and stabbed me in the head.”

Reuben, who is 65 years old, has called on the police and security agencies to arrest Nnanna and investigate the incident. He reported the attack to the Azikiwe Police Division, where he was given a medical report.

At the time of reporting, Grace Iringe-Koko, the spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, had not responded to the matter.
