Rt. Hon. George Alli, the immediate past Chairman of Otukpo Local Government council has reacted to the completion of the prestigious Och’Idoma Palace by the Government of Benue State under the leadership of H.E Gov. Samuel Ortom.
The award winning chairman expressed his delight in a statement on Friday February 3rd, 2023.
According to him, “It is no more news that the paramount ruler of the Idoma nation would be getting a befitting palace soon. The new palace would be commissioned soon. I am overwhelmed with happiness that the new master edifice has become a reality in our clime.
“In 2018, i can recall i raised a memo in the Joint Account Allocation Committee (JAAC) that it was justifiable for the Ochidoma to also have a befitting palace just as the Tor Tiv palace was then under construction. After robust deliberations by council chairmen in the Joint Committee, my memo was approved and His Excellency, Governor Samuel Ortom also upheld the decision to build a befitting palace for our King.
“I feel delighted that the project is now almost completed and will commissioned few days from now. I am proud and overwhelmed with great joy that the Paramount Ruler of the Idoma nation will finally have a befitting palace.
“I must commend our Executive Governor, Dr. Samuel Ortom and his Deputy, Engr Benson Abounu, the Special Adviser, Barr Kenneth Achabo , former Special Advisers, my former colleagues who supported the memo I presented. I also commend Engr Agaba Ikwue for his commitment and dedication towards the project from the scratch to the finish point. Myself and many others are happy and proud.
It is my ernest prayer that this beautiful structure that will be commissioned any moment from now will provide our Royal father all the comfort required for him to function and led the good people of Idoma nation into a glorious future, filled with Abundance, Prosperity, Love, Peace, Unity and Joy . Long live our King, His Royal Majesty, Chief. Dr. Elaigwu John Odogbo.” He added.
