It is no longer news that President Muhammadu Buhari has accepted the resignation of former Service Chiefs; the Chief of Defence Staff, General Abayomi Olonisakin; Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen. Tukur Buratai; Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ibok Ekwe Ibas; and Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, and appointed new their replacements.

IDOMA VOICE reports that President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday, in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, appointed new Service Chiefs as follow; Major-General Leo Irabor, Chief of Defence Staff; Major-General I. Attahiru, Chief of Army Staff; Rear Admiral A.Z Gambo, Chief of Naval Staff; and Air-Vice Marshal I.O Amao, Chief of Air Staff.

Now, Nigerians across social media are sending messages to the nation’s new Service Chiefs.

Here are some of the messages as obtained by IDOMA VOICE:

Bulama Bukarti wrote;

“JUST IN: Pres. Buhari has just replaced the Service Chiefs according to multiple media reports. We urge the new chiefs to take a careful, genuine look at the security challenges across Nigeria, grasp the huge challenge before them & work flat out to tackle it. May they succeed.”

Mohnice wrote;

“Buhari finally sack service chiefs

Best decision made by Mr president, we expect the new service chiefs to bring their wealth of experience to bear as they will fight and tackle insecurities in the country to zero level

May Almighty make it better option for our country🙏”

Mark Amaza wrote;

“Let me be a party pooper and say that without deep reforms of the military (esp the army) and of our overall national security architecture, installing new service chiefs will only be cosmetic & be good for their own careers and not the country’s security.”

Ayemojubar wrote;

“Let’s remember that this same govt replaced Ibrahim Kpotun Idris with Mohammed Abubakar Adamu as the IG of Police, what did we get? I’m not expecting anything “messianic” from the new Service Chiefs, as long as they still report to Buhari.”

“Appointing new Service Chiefs will not change anything, they are nothing but tools in the hand of a tyrant.”

Bayyah wrote;

“May we never miss the former service Chiefs, they left Nigeria grossly disunited, disjointed and grossly insecured, I join well meaning Nigerians in praying for the success of new service chiefs in securing Nigeria.”

Bello Shagari wrote;

“The best news I have heard this year is the appointment of the new service chiefs. I am so excited, not because it will abruptly bring the end to the years of insecurity, but at least we would give another set of military men the opportunity to grow and try their best.”

Chimauzom wrote;

“At least we have slammed the reset button. Wishing the new service chiefs the best success for the good of Nigeria. Our personal peace relies on the overall peace of the country as a whole. Thanks @MBuhari”

Musapha Bulama wrote;

“I don’t think we should be congratulating the new Service Chiefs considering the daunting task ahead of them.”
