New Zealand visa application for British citizens

As a British citizen, you have the advantage of visa-free travel to New Zealand. Since October 2019, British nationals can enter New Zealand without obtaining a visa. Instead, they can apply for a New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority (NZeTA) online, which allows them to visit the country for tourism, business, or transit purposes.

Here are the steps to apply for the NZeTA:

  1. Ensure you have the required documents:

    • A valid passport that is valid for at least three months from your planned departure date.
    • A recent digital passport-sized photograph that meets the necessary guidelines.
  2. Prepare a means of online payment, such as a credit card, debit card, or PayPal account, as you will need to pay the processing fee for the NZeTA.

  3. Access the online application form for the NZeTA. You can complete this form from anywhere using a smartphone, tablet, computer, or any other device with internet access. The application typically takes less than 30 minutes to complete.

  4. During the application process, you will need to provide personal information, passport details, and answer a few questions, such as criminal records and whether you are seeking medical treatment in New Zealand.

  5. After completing the application and payment, you will receive the approved NZeTA via email in PDF format. Make sure to print a few copies of the NZeTA to carry with you while traveling.

It’s important to note that the NZeTA is valid for multiple short-term stays and allows each stay to last up to six months. The NZeTA itself is valid for two years from the date of issue or until your passport expires (whichever comes first).

While the NZeTA covers most travel purposes, if you plan to stay in New Zealand for longer periods, work, study, or have other specific purposes, you may need to inquire about different visa options from the nearest New Zealand embassy or consulate.

Enjoy your trip to New Zealand, and have a wonderful time exploring this beautiful country!
