The President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Ibrahim Gusau has shed light on ongoing negotiations for a fresh contract with the esteemed head coach of the Super Eagles, Jose Peseiro.
Following the expiration of Peseiro’s previous one-year tenure in July, the NFF is reportedly proposing a revised compensation package for the Portuguese tactician in order to secure his continued leadership.
Gusau, while offering insight into the delicate deliberations, expressed optimism about a timely resolution regarding Peseiro’s future with the national team.
“His contract concluded in July, and we are presently engaged in discussions with him and his legal team,” Gusau was quoted by SCORE.
“We anticipate a swift conclusion, and any decisions will be reached based on the well-considered recommendations of our technical committee.”
Notably, Peseiro assumed the role of Super Eagles coach in May 2022, contributing his expertise to the squad’s endeavors.
With the Super Eagles gearing up to confront Sao Tome and Principe in a crucial 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier next month, the outcome of these negotiations could significantly influence the team’s preparation and aspirations.
