Forty-five days after world football governing body FIFA ordered the Nigeria Football Federation to pay former Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr $377,879.46 in compensation after ending his contract early, the NFF is yet to adhere to the directive, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
According to the ruling by the FIFA’s players’ status chamber in May, the world football governing body will impose restrictions if the NFF did not pay Rohr within 45 days.
“If full payment (including all applicable interest) is not made within 45 days of notification of this decision, the respondent (the NFF) shall be imposed a restriction on receiving a percentage of development funding, up until the due amounts are paid,” FIFA stated.
Rohr, Nigeria’s longest-serving manager, lost his job last December after his team’s poor performances.
The NFF had agreed to pay Rohr’s salary until the end of his contract, which expires in December 2022, but the Franco-German went to FIFA to demand an additional sum for “breach of contract without just cause.”
He demanded a total of £1m, but was granted $377,879.46 after a FIFA tribunal decided his claim was “partially accepted insofar as it is admissible.”
Speaking with PUNCH Sports Extra, the 68-year-old said, “The 45-day ultimatum (by FIFA) is over and I’m yet to be paid my compensation. No appeal.”
When our correspondent contacted the NFF’s Director of Communication Ademola Olajire on the matter, he said, “I don’t want to discuss anything about Rohr.”
Rohr led Nigeria in 58 matches, winning 31 and losing 14.
